Last Spring I applied for an Oneida Nation Arts Program SEEDS Grant and I was luck to recieve the grant and have an Artist in Residence for this whole week! Planting Seeds of Knowledge (SEEDS) is a grant program for schools and other community groups to work with qualified Native Artists in interactive and engaging residencies, workshops and performances. Our Artists are trained to work in educational settings with teachers and students, integrating curriculum, creativity, and culture. More information and a grant application can be found here! http://www.oneidanationarts.org/seeds-grant-info-main.html
The artist I chose to work with is Jennifer Stevens, she is so wonderful! We are working on making pinch pots with all of my students this week. Jennifer is from Green Bay and if you are a Wisconsin Art Teacher I highly recommend Jennifer to visit your classroom as an Artist in Residence. Jennifer is staying in Black River Falls this entire week so I will post about her each day!
